The German automaker will work with the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network as a founding partner of three incubators in Windsor, Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto to scout startups with potential to work together on a proof of concept. Talking point: Eileen Böhme, the automaker’s director of strategy for innovations and future technologies R&D, told The Logic that the company has identified Canada as an area with the potential to be the next Silicon Valley. Mercedes-Benz didn’t announce how many startups it would accept, or details on funding for the incubator program on Tuesday. Executives noted it is in the pilot stage until April 2025 and that startups will benefit primarily through the working relationship with the automaker’s engineering team, rather than funding.
