Talking point: Modern AI systems are trained on huge quantities of data. In the case of large language models, there’s reams of text on the internet. But firms building control systems for robots, particularly humanoids, can’t just scrape the web for examples of how their machines should function. Mecka has built sensor-filled hardware, software that pulls information from them, and models to make that data usable for AI training. The firm claims it hit a US$100-million run rate—current sales projected over a year-long period—in June, and expects to get to US$300 million by year-end. Mecka previously raised US$60 million across two rounds, which it announced in June.
