Talking point: Radarsat-2 is a partnership between MDA and the Canadian government that offers imagery and surveillance information to many civil, commercial and defence applications. It was started in 2007. The new mission will provide operational continuity for existing customers in that parogram. The Radarsat-2 satellite exceeded its life expectancy, but should continue to operate well for several years, CEO Mike Greenley told The Globe and Mail. MDA—which returned to Canadian ownership in late 2019, with investors eyeing an eventual IPO—is also building the next Canadarm.
