Members of the House of Commons’ ethics committee voted to serve a summons to Facebook CEO Zuckerberg and COO Sandberg compelling them to appear before the group the next time the two executives step foot on Canadian soil. If they ignore the order, they could be found in contempt of Parliament. Kevin Chan, global director and head of public policy at Facebook Canada, and Neil Potts, public policy director, attended the hearings in place of Zuckerberg and Sandberg. The committee met in Ottawa along with the International Grand Committee on Big Data, Privacy and Democracy, which also questioned representatives from Google and Twitter.
