Iger highlighted McDonald’s “wealth of experience in scaling brand-name retailers … through innovation, finding new ways to connect with consumers across digital channels, in stores and at home.” Under McDonald’s leadership, Lululemon acquired Mirror, an interactive at-home workout platform, for $500 million, and unveiled a strategic plan focused on doubling its digital revenue over five years through initiatives like a new membership program. McDonald previously served as president and chief executive of Americas at cosmetics retailer Sephora, and ran Sears Canada for a little over two years, starting in mid-2011. The department-store chain eventually filed for bankruptcy in 2017.
