The drugs-and-sundries chain in Western Canada is closed until further notice as it deals with the fallout of a “cybersecurity incident” it discovered Sunday, spokesperson Jessica Harcombe Fleming told The Logic. Its pharmacists are filling urgent prescriptions and it’s hired outside experts to help with “containment [and] remediation and to conduct a forensic investigation.” (The Logic)

Talking point: Fleming would not say whether the incident is a ransomware attack or something else, but wrote in an email that “at this time, we have no reason to believe that customer or employee data has been impacted.” London Drugs has more than 80 stores and 8,000 employees between Manitoba and its home province of B.C., and has subsidiaries in the insurance and IT sectors.
