Talking point: The charge comes as Lightspeed CEO Dax Dasilva enters the second year of an effort to turn the firm’s lagging share price around through cost-cutting and a focus on profitable growth. Those efforts have been stymied by economic uncertainty and poor consumer confidence in the U.S., its biggest market, causing Lightspeed to cut its revenue projections for 2025 in March. Lightspeed blamed “recent volatility in the valuations of technology companies broadly,” including its own, for the goodwill writedown. Lightspeed also reported fourth-quarter revenue of US$253.4 million, up 10 per cent year over year. In a release, Dasilva said he hopes to focus on growth in 2026 after spending 2025 adjusting the firm’s strategy.
