Talking point: CFO Asha Bakshani said the smaller loss reflected improved gross profit and the full amortization of acquisition-related intangible assets. She also confirmed Lightspeed recently cut about 10 per cent of its workforce. CEO Dax DaSilva said the deployment of AI tools and a more focused strategy had reduced staffing requirements, particularly in product development. In April, Lightspeed sold its U.S. hospitality business, Upserve, to Skyview Equity for up to US$81 million—a steep 81 per cent discount—as it moved to streamline operations and refocus on higher-growth segments.
