The Montreal-based bank announced Thursday that Bélair’s mandate overseeing operations has been expanded to include managing product and digital development. Last month, Bélair was named chief administration officer, in addition to his prior role as chief human resources officer, amid news that Laurentian completed its strategic review without finding a buyer. Talking point: In a release, Laurentian said Bélair’s larger mandate will “allow the bank to focus on the customer from an end-to-end product and servicing perspective.” Merick Seguin, spokesperson for the bank, did not directly answer The Logic’s questions about what Bélair will specifically be tasked with in digital development. Laurentian’s previous CEO Rania Llewellyn was over halfway through a three-year plan to upgrade the bank’s digital services when she was replaced by Éric Provost in early October.
