Talking point: Investissement Québec said it will continue supporting local companies that export to China. According to the province’s statistics agency, exports and imports with China declined 4.7 per cent 6.8 per cent, respectively, in February 2024 year over year. Many Quebec companies have recently moved their business from China to other Asian countries, former Canadian diplomat in China Jean-François Lépine told Le Journal. That includes the province’s public pension fund manager Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, which closed its Shanghai office last year.
