It’s coming from the Strategic Response Fund, whose purpose, in part, is to defend Canadian industries from the effects of U.S. tariffs. Asked about the thinking behind funding an American defence contractor immediately after U.S. President Donald Trump promised fresh tariffs on Canadian industries, Joly’s spokesperson Gabrielle Landry referred The Logic to a general statement about the new tariffs from Prime Minister Mark Carney.
