Talking point: The suit came hours before Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei expressed hope that the Biden administration “would have an open policy for the benefit of American firms and the economic development of the United States.” Justin Trudeau has also pressed the Biden administration on Huawei, if only to help secure the release of Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor. The two men were arrested and imprisoned in 2018 in an apparent retaliation for Canada’s arrest of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou.
