Talking point: A collaboration makes sense since both Cruise and BrightDrop share a pretty lucrative client: Walmart. Bloomberg’s sources said Cruise is still mainly focused on its robotaxi project, and BrightDrop told the outlet there was currently no partnership to announce. Either way, GM Canada has told The Logic that it’s building out its R&D and software teams, some of which test algorithmic driving or design proprietary software for EVs like BrightDrop, which will be built in Ingersoll, Ont. Meanwhile, BrightDrop chief revenue officer Steve Hornyak told The Logic last month it’s planning to imminently announce several new clients in the grocery business.
