Talking point: Last month, GardaWorld was awarded a contract worth as much as US$8-million to supply security services to “Alligator Alcatraz,” the Florida immigrant detention centre housing as many as 3,000 immigrants as they await deportation. The Trump administration campaign has alarmed human rights groups, with 12 people dying in ICE custody this year, including Canadian Johnny Noviello in June. GardaWorld didn’t respond to The Globe’s questions.
