Talking point: Following a decade in Ontario politics, Breton most recently ran Nova Scotia Business between January 2015 and July 2022, when the new Progressive Conservative provincial government rolled the agency into a new economic-development organization. She’s a delayed replacement for Ian McKay, Invest in Canada’s inaugural CEO, whom Ottawa appointed ambassador to Japan in April 2021.
