The Toronto-based crypto entrepreneur unveiled his new venture, Andiami, at an event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Monday evening. Among other features it includes a game with a native crypto token, which is eventually meant to incentivize players to participate in the infrastructure of various blockchain protocols. (The Logic)
Talking point: Andiami launches just after the 10-year anniversary of Di Iorio’s first Toronto Bitcoin meetup, where he met Ethereum inventor Vitalik Buterin. In July 2021, Di Iorio announced he was leaving crypto over security concerns and planned to sell his Toronto-based company Decentral to focus on philanthropy. In an interview with The Logic, Di Iorio said he realized he didn’t need to sell Decentral to tackle world problems and mentor leaders—“I can focus on both.” Di Iorio said he’s funding Andiami himself and plans to use money from the sale of gaming hardware to pay for later stages of the product, which he eventually envisions will compete with Infura, an Ethereum infrastructure provider made by fellow Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin’s ConsenSys.
