In a LinkedIn post, Phil De Luna said he was moving on from the direct-air capture company co-founded by Hopper CEO Frederic Lalonde. De Luna, who joined Deep Sky in 2023, also served as its chief commercial officer. (The Logic)
Talking point: Deep Sky specializes in direct-air and -ocean capture of carbon from the atmosphere. Though the company has inked several carbon-credit deals since it was founded in 2022, The Logic found that Lalonde hasn’t been entirely forthright regarding the scalability of direct-air capture technology, or the available energy sources needed to power it. De Luna is the second executive to depart the company since May, when CEO Damien Steel said he was stepping down for personal reasons. De Luna declined to comment further on his departure. Deep Sky spokesperson Brooks Wallace didn’t respond to a request for comment.
