Talking point: The Vancouver-based NBA Top Shot creator Dapper Labs has long been a prolific investor and the summer’s crypto crash hasn’t slowed it down. This is Dapper’s 28th deal of 2022 and its 13th since May, when prices in the sector nosedived, according to PitchBook. Blockchain gaming has been a rare bright spot in the bear market, accounting for 60 per cent of all blockchain activity in July, according to DappRadar. Dapper’s long term success depends on building an ecosystem around Flow, its in-house built blockchain. Investing in other companies helps it build partnerships and contribute to the growth of the nascent sector.
