Talking Point: Stablecoins, crypto assets pegged to the value of the dollar, are becoming increasingly mainstream, with some banks now endorsing their use. The sector is projected to grow eightfold to US$2 trillion by 2028. While the regulatory framework is still under development, the Bank of Canada urged federal and provincial authorities to “weigh the merits” of such regulations.
