Judy Wade will be managing director, head of San Francisco and Adam Grosser is joining as a senior adviser. (The Logic)
Talking point: The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board was among the last big Canadian pensions to announce a technology push, but it’s been making up for lost time. In August 2019, the fund established a San Francisco office. Since then, it’s invested in a San Jose office project, a US$2.25-billion raise by Waymo and a US$340-million round for cloud firm Netskope. The last raise was in partnership with some of Silicon Valley’s most prominent venture capital firms, including Sequoia and Social Capital. These new senior staffers come with their own deep ties to the U.S. tech community. Wade spent nearly three years working with startups at McKinsey & Company, and Grosser spent the last nine years at private equity firm Silver Lake.
