Talking point: The decision comes amid growing concerns over the prevalence of Hikvision telecommunications and surveillance equipment in the country. In December, the Quebec government banned the use of technology from Hikvision, as well as from Chinese manufacturer Dahua, in the province’s public institutions. Hikvision spokesperson Matthew Ballard was unable to provide comment by deadline.
