Leon leaves the bankrupt cryptocurrency lender one week after former CEO Alex Mashinsky resigned, according to an internal memo seen by CNBC. Celsius did not respond to The Logic’s request for comment, but Bloomberg and the Financial Times have reportedly received confirmation from the company. (CNBC)
Talking point: Leon and Mashinsky are the latest high-level executives to leave Celsius, which is backed by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and whose collapse contributed to a widespread crypto crash over the summer. Former RBC banker Rod Bolger submitted his resignation in June. In August, Celsius withdrew a court motion to bring Bolger back as an advisor for at least six weeks for a fee of US$92,000 per month. Earlier this week, the Financial Times reported Mashinsky withdrew US$10 million from Celsius weeks before the company froze investor accounts.
