Executive director Morva Rohani said the crypto industry group has achieved its goal of improving the level of understanding of the sector among bureaucrats and elected officials by hosting breakfasts, delivering presentations and appearing at committees. However, she said she would like the Liberals to abandon one of their favourite sound bites: attacking Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre for saying Canadians can “opt out of inflation” by buying bitcoin last year. (The Logic)
Talking point: Rohani said she monitors what’s said in question period and the attack line comes up “nearly every week.” While she believes the Liberals are deliberately being careful not to disparage crypto, “it doesn’t necessarily send the message that they take our industry very seriously.” CW3, which counts Canadian industry heavy hitters such as Dapper Labs, Wealthsimple and Bitbuy as members, formed last year to advocate for a national strategy on digital assets and improve education among policymakers. In the coming year, Rohani said CW3 is commissioning research to improve understanding of the economic impact of the sector.
