Talking point: Fifty-five per cent of the 346 survey respondents said the counter-tariffs that Ottawa slapped on U.S. goods are creating problems for their businesses, but 45 per cent said Canada should resume talks only when a better deal is within reach. Sixty-two per cent want this year’s federal budget to take the Canada-U.S. trade war and the impact of tariffs into account. Other priorities include: attracting foreign investment (44 per cent); speeding up major energy and infrastructure projects (34 per cent); lowering cost pressures for businesses and households (34 per cent) and boosting tax competitiveness and reducing red tape (26 per cent).
