Talking point: When compared to 12 months prior, 599,000, or 3.1 per cent, fewer people were employed in February, while 50 per cent more, or 406,000 people, worked less than half of their typical hours. The number of people working in professional, technical and scientific services last month was 5.6 per cent higher, or 86,000 more employees, than a year prior, marking the largest year-over-year increase among industries.
