Talking point: U.S. President Donald Trump recently threatened to “decertify” certain Bombardier planes and hit the company with 50 per cent tariffs, accusing Canada of refusing to certify aircraft made by U.S.-based competitor Gulfstream. Bombardier aircraft are popular in the U.S. and abroad, with one private aircraft operator telling The Logic last fall that the company’s Challenger 3500 jet is bigger with better resale than the equivalent Gulfstream. Aircraft service is a growing concern for Bombardier, with third quarter 2025 revenues of US$590 million, up 12 per cent over the same period the year before.
