Talking point: Binance has made compliance a focus after regulators and central banks around the world issued warnings about the firm in 2021. Today’s announcement marks the official launch of the program, which Binance’s investigators have already delivered about 30 times globally, including in Canada, France and Germany. Binance held one such workshop in Calgary in July. Binance Canada incorporated in Alberta in December 2021 and made a legally binding commitment to the Ontario Securities Commission in March to withdraw its services from the province until further notice. In June, Binance Canada CEO Lawrence Truong told the Financial Post he hopes to obtain regulatory approval and offer services to Ontarians again by 2024.
