A Chinese court has granted Qualcomm, an American telecommunications equipment company, an injunction against Apple, which will halt the sales and imports of most iPhones in the country. However, Apple disputes the ban’s scope, saying it should only affect iPhones running on older versions of iOS, and that iOS 12 doesn’t violate the patents involved in the case. Apple has filed an appeal to overturn the sales ban. Apple and Qualcomm are in the midst of legal battles in the U.S. The two companies will head to court in April over iPhone patent royalties. This development took place two days before the arrest of Huawei’s CFO in Vancouver, as well as two days before a short-lived detente between U.S. and China on trade issues.
