Talking point: Amazon said its employees’ health, safety and well-being is a top priority. It declined to say how many of its staff have tested positive, saying site-specific figures “lack a significant amount of context.” An employee who worked in a Peel Region warehouse said the company doesn’t communicate either the department where a person who tested positive worked or the shift they staffed. “They’re really taking advantage of workers because everybody is so desperate for a job, especially at this time,” they said. The former employee said discussing COVID-19 concerns at work could result in warnings or termination.
