Talking point: Amazon wants U.S. federal agencies to buy its cloud computing services. It’s the same pitch the company has been making in Canada, where—as The Logic reported in August 2018—it started lobbying governments for billions of dollars worth of contracts after shortlisting Toronto for HQ2. That lobbying has continued apace, with 23 lobbying communications reported between Eric Gales, president of Amazon Web Services Canada, and the federal government in the past six months.
