The tech giant is looking to Manhattan’s west side, and has reportedly been in talks with the owners of two new skyscrapers in the area: One Manhattan West and Two Manhattan West. Amazon is looking for a minimum of 100,000 square feet of office space, according to the Post. (New York Post)
Talking point: The e-commerce giant is searching for NYC office space after cancelling its planned HQ2 in New York’s Queen’s neighbourhood, following backlash from local community groups. Amazon had been “seriously” looking at Two Manhattan West prior to choosing Queen’s for its HQ2 in November 2018, and that interest has returned over the past few weeks, a source told the Post. Both buildings in question are owned by Brookfield Properties, founded in Montreal but now headquartered in New York. While Brookfield has denied the reports, it does currently lease space to Amazon in the nearby Five Manhattan West property.
