Talking point: The price of the add-on depends on coverage. Insurance covering 80 per cent of a $696 Montreal-Toronto return flight costs $84, while 100 per cent is $104. Profits from the option are split between the Montreal-based airline and Hopper, which is also based in the city. The deal comes weeks after Expedia terminated its partnership with Hopper, saying the travel startup’s products “exploit consumer anxiety.” Hopper has since partnered with Nubank to run the Brazil-based bank’s shopping platform, which will launch next year.
