The consulting firm will expand its data and artificial intelligence practice, double its AI talent to 80,000 employees and launch an enterprise platform to help guide clients’ strategies for the technology. Accenture has over 1,450 existing and pending AI patents and will build models for companies in 19 industries to take advantage of generative AI as part of the investment. (The Logic)
Talking point: Accenture isn’t the first major consulting firm to invest in AI as interest in the field reaches new heights. Deloitte recently partnered with chipmaker Nvidia to launch AI computing services and PwC made a US$1-billion investment over three years in AI (its counterpart PwC Canada has committed $200 million). Earlier this year, Bain & Company partnered with ChatGPT developer OpenAI. The industry’s AI push comes even as consulting firms like Accenture axe thousands of jobs amid the downturn.
