Talking points: The S&P rose more than 9 per cent Wednesday—its biggest increase in 17 years—after Trump announced a 90-day pause on global tariffs, and following a steep sell-off in U.S. Treasuries. Thursday is the fourth day in a row where the stock market has moved more than 5 per cent. CBOE’s VIX—which measures stock volatility—has clipped 60 in the past week. A VIX marker above 30 is typically considered highly volatile.
