The likes of Fox News host Tucker Carlson, commentator Ben Shapiro and Republican Senator Lindsey Graham have attended private dinners at Mark Zuckerberg’s homes since July, sources said. In response to the report, Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook, “To be clear, I have dinners with lots of people across the spectrum on lots of different issues all the time.” (Politico)
Talking point: Many conservatives, including several of the attendees like Carlson, have criticized Facebook and Zuckerberg specifically, alleging the platform’s content moderation strategy is unfairly biased against their viewpoints. Though those claims have largely gone unsubstantiated, the dinner conversations revolved around them and similar issues, like what people can do to appeal “real or perceived unfair treatment.” The dinners likely helped assuage concerns for some, with one attendee saying, “My perception of [Zuckerberg] was more positive than I anticipated…. He was receptive and thoughtful.”
