Halted postal services across the country are set to restart at 8 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Canada Post said, following a strike that saw 55,000 workers walk off the job for over a month. Canada’s Industrial Relations Board deemed it unlikely that Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) will reach a deal by year’s end, ordering an end to the walkout after two days of hearings. Canada Post’s latest offer includes a five per cent pay hike. The union, which has denounced the government’s intervention in negotiations, did not respond to a request to comment in time for publication. (The Logic)
