Four tech companies made the annual list, which looks at the amount of interest job postings get as well as employee retention. The Big Five banks took the first five spots on the list. Four tech companies made the list, with Shopify in eighth place, followed by IBM in 15th, Amazon in 16th and Salesforce in 17th. (The Logic)
Talking point: Shopify is the only Canadian-based tech firm to make the list, which only looks at companies that have 500 or more employees. The company is most looking for skills in machine learning; AngularJS, a framework for web apps; and React, a Javascript library. IBM is also focused on development-heavy skills, but for older languages like C#. Amazon and Salesforce’s skills focus in Canada is more sales-related. Amazon is looking for people with sales management and customer satisfaction skills, which will help with the company’s ongoing hiring spree for AWS and advertising roles.
