Planned, which runs an online booking platform for business events and travel, announced its Series B close on Thursday. The investment was led by Drive Capital, with participation from Outsiders Fund and other unnamed investors. It brings Planned’s total fundraising to US$65 million since launching in 2017. Talking point: Lalonde—the CEO and co-founder of Hopper, another digital travel company—is joining the company’s board. “We offered him a board seat because of his background as a very successful tech entrepreneur in the travel industry,” Planned spokesperson Lucie Loubet told The Logic by email, noting that Lalonde is not an investor in the company. The firm said in a press release that it will use the capital to integrate AI into its business and hire talent in Montreal, and to staff its new offices in Amsterdam and Singapore.
