The streaming platform announced a new tool Tuesday allowing artists to upload their music to SoundCloud competitors like Apple Music, Amazon Music, Spotify and Instagram. The feature—currently in open beta for its Pro and Pro Unlimited paying subscribers who meet the criteria—promises creators 100 per cent of their rights, distribution royalties and no distribution fees. In 2017, two top executives left SoundCloud; the company also closed two offices and laid off 40 per cent of its workforce. But that year, it got a US$170-million investment, a new CEO and re-shifted its focus to cater to creators. (Fast Company)
