Talking point: This is the latest autonomous vehicle deal from Waymo, which announced in late January that it was partnering with Aurora, Ont.-based Magna to open a self-driving car factory in Michigan. That factory will install self-driving systems in Fiat and Jaguar vehicles. For Renault and Nissan, a partnership with Waymo gives the companies key technology for building autonomous vehicles as other manufacturers try to lead the space. Last year, Magna joined Intel and BMW in an alliance to build a self-driving car platform, while GM plans to mass-produce its first autonomous car this year.
