Talking point: The positive third-quarter return follows a relatively stagnant period for CPP Investments, which reported a 0.1 per cent return in the previous three-month period and a 0.8 per cent loss in the first quarter. CEO John Graham attributed the returns to strong global equity and fixed income markets towards the end of 2023. Energy and infrastructure assets also contributed to the gains. The pension fund announced plans to close its Luxembourg office by the end of 2025. The office, which opened in 2015, manages the firm’s European investments, which reached $107 billion last quarter. “This decision was a result of thorough analysis of business activities that best serve our global operations,” the firm said in a statement on the closure.
