Talking point: Under Premier François Legault, Investissement Québec (IQ) saw its mandate enlarged to become the gateway for businesses seeking government financial support. As such, it has supported scores of EV battery and battery-related projects, including Lion Electric and Dcbel charging as well as Sweden’s Northvolt, “the largest private investment in Quebec’s history.” IQ has also invested in Montreal-based direct-air capture startup Deep Sky.
