Talking point: “We welcome the legal proceeding,” said Telus Health vice-president of consumer health Juggy Sihota during a press conference. She said Telus Health has co-operated fully with the commission’s review of LifePlus, in which it has sought to determine if it contributes to a two-tier healthcare system—allegations the telecom’s health division has previously denied. Telus LifePlus requires an annual fee in the thousands of dollars for a family doctor at a Telus clinic. None of Telus Health’s requests for meetings or clarifications have been answered, Sihota said, and it has not been given the opportunity to remediate concerns. The program has about 4,000 patients served by about 25 physicians, said Sihota. The health business is one of two divisions within the telecom expected to spin out via an initial public offering in the future—similarly to Telus International—and has been growing rapidly.
