Talking point: Rogers’ media segment—which, prior to the deal, included the Toronto Blue Jays and a 75 per cent stake in MLSE—has been a major driver of growth for the business as wireless and cable revenue stagnates. In a note, Scotiabank analyst Maher Yaghi said the deal implies a $17.4-billion valuation for MLSE, 39 per cent higher than it was when Rogers bought Bell’s 37.5 per cent stake for $4.7 billion in 2024.
