The telecom giant’s wireless and cable revenue didn’t change much between the fourth quarter of 2024 and the same period in 2025, but its media segment—which includes the Blue Jays and its stake in the Toronto Maple Leafs and Raptors—saw revenue rise 126 per cent, it reported. (The Logic)
Talking point: The Jays’ playoff success more than made up for the fact that Toronto’s Rogers Centre stadium didn’t have Taylor Swift filling its seats in November, the way she did in 2024. Mobile and cable services are much bigger parts of Rogers’ business, however, and its wireless revenue shrank slightly year over year, while its average revenue per user declined. Its cable revenue grew, but negligibly—by $1 million in a segment that pulls in nearly $2 billion a quarter. Nevertheless, for the year, Rogers booked more than $6.9 billion in profit atnd it’s paying down debt it took on to buy Shaw and take control of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.
