Talking point: Rivett and Bitove bought Torstar for $60 million in 2020, but their relationship deteriorated. “It’s unfortunate. We’re just different business people,” said Rivett. The dispute is in binding arbitration after mediation didn’t work out in October and Rivett said he expects it to be resolved soon. “Ideally, I’d like it done tonight,” he said. The company has been losing money for years, but Rivett said there’s a plan to “actually make a dollar” next year. It is important for the company to improve search engine optimization and online content delivery, he added.
