The Intel-owned self-driving car company will list shares on the Nasdaq under the ticker “MBLY” for a yet-to-be-determined price. Bankers involved in the deal told Bloomberg in September that it could be worth as much as US$30 billion. (The Logic, Bloomberg)
Talking point: While the public offering may be less than Intel had originally hoped for, a US$30-billion public market debut would be almost double its equity value of US$15.3 billion when Intel acquired it in 2017, and nearly a third of Intel’s US$111-billion market capitalization. It may reflect a turning point in the IPO market, after listings fell 82.5 per cent year-over-year in the second quarter, per FactSet. Still, other IPO hopefuls like Instacart are hanging back from the market, according to The Information. Mobileye’s stock will also test investor appetite for autonomous vehicles as a major player in the self-driving and driver-assistance market, supplying auto-parts makers like Magna and 50 automaker brands.
