Talking point: The investment comes as FCC has pledged $2 billion in agtech VC investment by 2030. The agency had already committed $170 million of that capital pool as of May 2025 in an effort to bolster Canada’s large but underperforming agriculture sector. FCC CEO Justine Hendricks is keen to press the pace. Founded in 2015, Chickapea manufactures a number of high-protein pastas made from chickpeas and yellow peas rather than wheat. Before Monday’s announcement, it had raised US$11.13 million in VC and other funding.
