Talking point: The move is a reversal from 2019, when Facebook brokered three-year deals together worth around US$105 million with publishers for news content in the U.S. The technology giant has also signed deals with various news outlets north of the border. “This doesn’t change anything related to any of our current deals in Canada. We are not going to speculate on the future of any deal that is still in effect,” Meta Canada spokesperson Lisa Laventure told The Logic.
