Talking point: Canada Post’s revenue in the second quarter “declined sharply due to labour uncertainty,” it said, as a dispute with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has dragged on for more than a year. Still, the corporation’s financial struggles long predate current labour negotiations. Canada Post has reported annual operating losses for the last seven consecutive years, including an $841-million before-tax loss in 2024. It is on track to post an even larger shortfall in 2025, it said on Tuesday. Between 2018 and the second quarter of 2025, the company’s cumulative losses have surpassed $5 billion, as overall parcel volumes declined steadily.
